Pay Per Click searches
Internet advertisers pay the search engine (Google, Yahoo or Bing) a fee when a sponsored ad is "clicked" on a search results page, sending them to the advertisers web page. The price paid to the search engine for this service is based on a competitive bidding formula for a particular word or phrase used in the ad. These "sponsored" ads are usually located at the top, side or bottom of the search results page.
